“Sixty b&w and colour shots by present members plus a selection of images from our Historical Archive illustrate the Circle’s approach, throughout fifty-seven years of activity, to one of the most intriguing sides of photography, the ability to carry the viewer into an imaginary and dreamlike dimension, all the while keeping to a faithful description of reality.
For a long time such potential stayed  largely unexplored: from the end of the XIX century up to the ‘50s, with the growing circulation of dailies and magazines, what was asked of photography was mainly to capture reality and report events through its assumed impartiality.”
